Ensuring Safety in Wallaby Control: Zolve Environmental’s Essential Role in South Canterbury

In South Canterbury, wallabies are a significant pest, severely impacting the productivity of primary industries. While Zolve Environmental does not directly engage in wallaby control, we play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of those who do.

Zolve Environmental provides annual health and safety assessments and audits for all wallaby control contractors operating across the South Island on behalf of Environment Canterbury (ECAN). Given the high-risk nature of wallaby control work—such as using 4WDs on difficult terrain, handling poisons and firearms, navigating steep and isolated areas, working around helicopters and managing remote and lone workers. it's essential that these contractors are well-prepared and compliant with safety standards.

Our expertise ensures that these contractors are managing their health and safety responsibilities effectively. Beyond auditing, we support contractors in implementing corrective actions and recommendations, fostering long-term relationships built on trust and ensuring that the wallaby control program operates with minimized risks. Our key focus with this ongoing project remains with ensuring the safety of the people in the back country doing the mahi.
